Went out with DEu tonight and managed to solve his problem.
Symptoms: bucking under WOT in 4th, slow increase in RPMs.
Apogee89 suggested that the car was misfiring and it might be time to change the plugs. So DEu went to get the plugs changed and the problem is gone.
Using the PLM we discovered his car was running 0.69 lambda. Looking at his plugs, they were completely fouled. The electrode was thick with carbon buildup.
Time to get some fuel management.
